What are cookies?

Cookies are small files containing a short string of numbers and letters placed automatically by a web site into the cookie folder in your browser.  Cookies are generally used to make a web site easier and faster to use.  The cookie recognises that a device is or has accessed the web site and acts accordingly, (depending on what the cookie is designed to do).  Mostly cookies perform mundane, but necessary tasks.

How do we use cookies?

We use cookies to analyse how visitors use our web site, so that we can continually improve it by adding more information and services and making it easier to navigate and use.  When you are signed in to Mapadillo, we use a session cookie to keep you signed in while you move around the site and preference cookies to track the latest map location and the latest icon that you used.

Consent and cookies

Some cookies we use are sent to your computer or mobile device as soon as the first page you view on our web site is displayed.  As a result we infer consent for these and other cookies if you use our web site.

No personal information in cookies

None of the cookies we use contain or pass personal, confidential, financial information or any other information that could be used to identify individual visitors to the web site.

Refusing cookies

Using your browser settings you are free to refuse cookies.  However, this will disable the analytics cookies that help us to improve the web site.  If you refuse cookies while signed into Mapadillo, you will be unable to use the application.

Cookies Used

The names of the Google Analytics cookies we use are _utma, _utmb, _utmc and _utmz.

The analytics cookies are used to collect information about how visitors use our site.  We use the information to compile reports and to help us improve the site.  The cookies collect information in an anonymous form, including the number of visitors to the site, where visitors have come to the site from, and the pages they visit on our site.
